Holiday and business-day answers you can call, not just read about.
DayAPI returns public holidays and business-day counts for 12 countries in 2026 as plain JSON. The endpoints on this page answer right now. Try one, copy the code, ship it.

Payroll cutoffs break in a specific way: someone counts calendar days, a holiday lands mid-range, and the bank processes on a different date than the contract says. That is the bug this API removes.

Holiday list
GET /v1/holidays/US/2026.json
One country, one year, every national public holiday with its source named in the response.
Business-day count
GET /v1/business-days?country=US&from=...&to=...
Counts working days in a range using that country's own weekend rule. January 2026 in the US returns 20.
Single-date check
GET /v1/is-business-day?country=SA&date=...
Yes or no for one date, with the reason. Friday 2 January 2026 in Saudi Arabia returns false: weekend there is Friday and Saturday.
Holidays per country in this dataset
Counts differ because governments differ. Japan lists 15 national holidays in 2026; Saudi Arabia lists 3 entries here, and its Islamic dates stay marked tentative until moon sighting confirms them.
Weekend rules sit inside the data
Saudi Arabia and Israel rest on Friday and Saturday. The other ten countries in the set rest on Saturday and Sunday. Callers get the rule back in every single-date response, so nobody has to hard-code Saturday and Sunday and ship it to Riyadh.
Limits, stated on the front page
- National holidays only. A Bavarian or Ontario regional holiday will not appear.
- Chinese adjustment working days (tiaoxiu) are not applied in this dataset. The adjustment-days guide explains what that means for counts in China.
- Coverage is 2026 only. Other years return a JSON error, not a guessed list.
FAQ
Is DayAPI live now?
Yes, as a read-only dataset API. The three endpoint families above answer without a key. Paid tiers, keys and higher limits are still planned; the pricing page labels them that way.
Can I rely on the US numbers?
The US list holds 11 federal holidays for 2026, checked against the OPM schedule. 1 January and 25 December are both in it.
Which countries are covered?
US, GB, CA, AU, DE, FR, JP, CN, IN, BR, SA and IL. The full list with sources is at /v1/countries.json.
